With its key inventions and countless successes, PEUGEOT has written one of the most beautiful pages in automotive history, and with the new challenges of the 21st century, the PEUGEOT adventure continues:
The family business was founded in 1810 by Jean-Frédéric and Jean-Pierre II Peugeot in the commune of Herimoncourt (Doubs) at “Sous-Cratet”, when the family hydraulic mill was converted into a steel mill. Different branches of the family branched out into many different industries, but all were steel-based (tools, springs, umbrella structures, corset irons, coffee grinders, watch parts, bicycles, etc.).
The first Peugeot motor vehicle was shown in 1889. The Serpollet-Peugeot was a steam-driven three-wheeler produced in collaboration with Leon Serpollet.
The 203 was the first car produced after World War II. It was also the first unibody car model with a hemispherical cylinder head and V-shaped valves, and the first PEUGEOT with more than half a million produced.
404 designed by Pininfarina. An increase in angular lines and glassy surfaces gave this car a significant modernization and elegance that set it apart from all cars produced in the 1950s. In 1961, the 404 was equipped with the first direct injection engine.
The 504, voted European Car of the Year in 1969, was PEUGEOT's longest-running model (3,700,000 produced until 2006). Aimed at middle-class customers, this car also ranked high in Africa and South America due to its durability
The slogan "All PEUGEOT within 3.58 meters" highlighted that the 104 is the world's smallest four-door saloon.
Thanks to his style and charisma, the 604 was accepted by the highest-ranking public officials throughout Europe. The 604 also featured the first commercial turbodiesel engine in Europe
A life-saving success for PEUGEOT. This brand is a two-time world rally champion and twice won Paris-Dakar. It became the best-selling French car in France and the most exported French car ever.
For the second time in its history, Peugeot won the European Car of the Year award in 1988 with its new family car, the 405.
Its timeless design made it a collector's dream and it was the first coupe to be produced with a diesel engine (2001).
Three-time World Champion. The CC version of 2000 reintroduced the convertible coupe first introduced by Peugeot in 1934.
Praised for its style, interior design, and features, the new PEUGEOT 3008 was chosen as the 2017 Car of the Year by a jury of 58 European journalists. This marks the first time an SUV was awarded this honor since the inception of the award in 1964, making it the fifth PEUGEOT to be named Car of the Year, following the 308 in 2014, the 307 in 2002, the 405 in 1988, and the 504 in 1969.
The Peugeot Partner was named the "International Van of the Year" in 2019, marking it as the fifth Peugeot vehicle to receive the "Van of the Year" honor since the inception of the award in 1992. It distinguished itself with two significant innovations: an overload indicator for ensuring safe loading capacities and the Surround Rear Vision technology, which utilizes cameras to eliminate blind spots. A standout feature in its category, the Peugeot Partner incorporates the exclusive and first-in-the-world Peugeot i-Cockpit®, enhancing the driving experience and boosting productivity. The Van of the Year Award, established in 1992, is judged by a European panel comprising 25 independent journalists and magazine editors with expertise in light commercial vehicles.
Peugeot 208 was chosen as the car of 2020 by a panel of 60 expert automotive journalists from 23 European countries. The jury praised the engine range, which offers customers the freedom to choose between electric, petrol and diesel. The panel also praised the bold design and technology of the PEUGEOT 208, the sixth PEUGEOT to be named Car of the Year. With six titles, Peugeot was one of the three brands with the most Car of the Year awards. This prestigious award joins twelve other international awards already received by the Peugeot 208.
Bearing the brand's new logo, the new 308 impresses with its sharp and responsive design, advanced technology and efficiency. Its range of powertrains, including two Plug-in Hybrids (180 or 225 channels), gives customers a choice between electrified and internal combustion engines.
